About the Band

Strings Attached started when Johnny met Junie at an open mic one night in 2013. The two musicians hit it off and started an acoustic duo, rapidly becoming one of the most booked and popular duos in Orange County, NY. Occasionally, the duo would be joined by guest musicians, billing themselves as Strings Attached and Friends. However, in 2023, after guest performances by percussionist, Alex and Xavier on bass, the duo decided to welcome these two talented musicians into Strings Attached and so, the duo became a quartet. In a very short time, the group has become one of the area's most sought after musical acts!

  • Junie Moon

    GUITAR & VOCALS

Jeanie Cassels (AKA Junie Moon) first picked up a guitar at the age of 16, learned a few chords from a book and took a stab at some Joni Mitchell tunes. From that point on, she was hooked on playing guitar, songwriting and performing for friends and family. Jeanie honed her skills as a member of an Irish band, “Thorns and Roses”, performing for several years in the NY, NJ area. During that time, one of her original tunes was recorded in Nashville by Irish music star Andy Cooney on his album, “The Prodigal Son”.

After taking some time off for family and an IT career, Jeanie met Johnny D at an open mic in Warwick, NY and a great friendship and musical collaboration was forged in the form of “Strings Attached”. Through this experience, Jeanie not only continues to feed her “ham” gene, she has met and worked with so many wonderful and talented people who have become friends for life.

  • Johnny Dash

    GUITAR & VOCALS

Johnny picked up his first guitar when he was 12 years old, practiced a bit and booked his first gig – his 8th grade graduation dance.

Hooked on performing, making music, and having FUN, Johnny spent the next 8 years organizing bands and gigging as much as he could. Playing 5-6 times a week, he aspired to a career in music, which was further fueled by the experience of opening for acts like Van Morrison, The Young Rascals and Mountain and participating in recording sessions at the Record Plant in NYC. The dream ended during his third year of college when he realized it was no longer possible to reach a balance between performing and working on a degree.

After a 40-year hiatus from playing, Johnny decided to try the open mic circuit. He met Jeanie Cassels (a.k.a. Junie Moon) and, soon after, formed an acoustic duo called Strings Attached. Together, they quickly became one of the most booked and popular duos in Orange County, NY. Over the past 10 years, Strings Attached has performed over 1,000 times at the Hudson Valley’s hottest and coolest venues. The music and performance collaboration created by Strings Attached has been the highlight of Johnny's musical endeavors.
